Obama, Pope and abortion
Jul. 12th, 2009 | 05:05 pm
So, President Obama promishe the Pope that he wants to reduce the number of abortions in the US. That's fine. I think that is a good deal, there probably are too many performed and it would be better to address the issue before it gets to that point.
So, in return, I'm sure the Pope agreed to do something about the pedophile priest problem or stop spreading lies and miseducation about condoms and their effectiveness. Right?

Does anyone else have that feeling of inevitable doom? As if Cthulhu has now arisen from the sunken city of R'lyeh, to reclaim the Earth for the 'Great Old Ones'. "In his house at R'lyeh dead Cthulhu waits dreaming...yet He shall rise and His kingdom shall cover the Earth."
No this is far worse. For this Monday, November 17th 2008 is the 30th anniversary of the one and only showing of the Star Wars Holiday Special on CBS 7-9pm Central Standard Time.

And unless I am fortunate enough to be whisked away by the aliens and escorted to the next dimension, I will be watching it on Monday, with a fresh box of Dharma wine.
If I somehow survive, don't weep for me, for I will be dead already, on the inside.

Television under the Swastika, an hour-long documentary produced by Germany's Spiegel TV, tells the story through newly discovered film, produced for broadcast in the 30's and 40's, and then lost for 60+ years in the East German archives.
Very cool that this footage was found.

The MS150 ride from Houston to Austin opened for registration on the 15th of October.

It was filled in 7 hours!
The first time I rode registration didn't fill up until the end of January and the beginning of February, I believe. Now, I can't even wait to get home from work to sign up. It's great that so many people want to ride for the cause, but, it bites that it has gotten so big, casual riders like myself aren't able to get in.

While I am hoping the new Star Trek movie will be good the above photo to me indicates that the film makers have a very difficult task ahead of them.
The original photo for me just exudes charisma and personality, while the new version seems plastic and fake.
The Day the Earth Stood Still
From what I've heard, this movie has an environmental message. While I am all for the environment and protecting and preserving it, I don't feel this movie is the best vehicle for this message. The biggest issue I have is, would aliens really care if humans destroyed their own world? Instead of this, maybe humans had finally developed a Solarbanite bomb, I would find this concept more interesting.
Finally, it looks like they may actually do that remake of The Birds that has been tossed around for years. If they do, how much do you want to bet they will answer "why" the birds are attacking. For me the best thing about the Hitchcock film, is that you never learn why they attack.
So many rampaging nature movies feel that they have to explain why the events are taking place. For me, that takes away from the the impact of the film. Sometimes, things just happen and it cannot be explained. This is much more scary than birds being pissed because humans did something specific to set them off.

YOU ARE KILLING ME!

Sure, she me look cute and sweet...

But look at what she is doing to my collectibles at bath time!

Why can't she leave them where they belong!

And you know the worst part! If I grabbed her by the nape of the neck and tossed her out the door, I'D be the bad guy!
At this rate, I'll never get to display my Star Trek replicas!

The wife went to the store to pick up supplies for the cake for our neice and nephew's birthday on Saturday. My job is to keep her alive until the Mrs. comes home. Cross your fingers!

PG porn. Starring Nathan Fillion & Aria Giovanni!

This struck me as extremely funny...at first. Then I thought about it for a moment. Isn't it weird how we find the shot of a nipple or penis or two people having sex obscene, yet a man accidentally killing a woman then trying to cover it up is fine?

I think I made a huge mistake

So, the Mrs. and I, along with the grandbaby and her parents are watching "The Love Boat" on DVD.

It is the episode involving Captain Stubbing, his ex-wife and their problems with each other. At some point near the end, when "Captain" and "my crew" and "my ship" are being thrown about, I casually ask, "so shouldn't they have introduced Kahn by now?"

Noone got the reference! I'm sooo disappointed!

Starting to come together
Aug. 19th, 2008 | 11:14 pm
Been spending a lot of time getting the house fixed up and now it finally looks like someone actually lives in it.
Here's me working in the dining room:

Here's the chair project being taken over by my little helper:

One kept her bust for a solid 1/2 hour, and when it was time to leave, she put up quite the fight. I wish we had 50 more chairs!
Here is the new couch that fits in our semi-retro den:

Here is the living room with an actual piece of art that does not involve dogs and poker.

Here is the little monster that haunts our place and often dances to Spongebob Squarepants, or as she as "Bob Bob":

babies!
Aug. 8th, 2008 | 11:22 pm
Never thinking this would happen, but I am starting to get used to having a little baby around the house. I admit I am amazed at some of the things they pick up on.
Here I am getting my nails done with I believe one of my wifes empty lip gloss thingies.
As far as babies go, I do enjoy having her around, but I also like the fact that she leaves with her parents. Who knew babies were so exhausting!

Long lost footage of Metropolis has been found in Argentina. I am thrilled about this and can't wait until this more complete version is available.
This site has posted some stills from the found footage. It is amazing to think that these scenes probably have not been seen for over 80 years

So far, I've been able to catch her and clean her up before she makes it to the new couch!

Very cool. We wanted something different, and since we both have a wee bit of the Irish in us this seemed perfect.
